ASTRONOMY INSTITUTE

EXPLORE ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY:  Young Astronomers will learn to operate different telescope systems, including the big scope under the dome, which provides practice similar to that at professional observatories.  You will team up to do imaging of a beautiful deep sky target of their choosing, and we will teach you how astronomers process these images to bring out their best.  You’ll photograph the mountains and craters of the moon, time occultations of stars by the moon, and see how to measure the depths of lunar craters from your images.  Classes start in the lab room, and migrate to the Cabrillo College Observatory at sunset when skies are clear.
