Who Are We?

The Santa Cruz County College Commitment (S4C) is a countywide collaborative comprised of public education institutions, including all K-12 School Districts, Cabrillo College, CSU Monterey Bay, and the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC).

The partnership is aimed at getting every Santa Cruz County student college ready.

Students will begin to experience college campuses beginning with a 4th grade visit to Cabrillo College where they will interact with teachers in mini workshops and other educational activities. Students will continue to be introduced to institutions of higher learning as they move through middle and high schools with visits to CSUMB and UCSC campuses.

Please take some time to browse our website as you will find many tools for students and parents to utilize inorder for them achieve their academic best.  Come back often and we will be adding more user friendly tools and activities in the near future.

Our Commitment includes the following:

  • Provide information, services and resources to help Santa Cruz County students and their families prepare for college
  • Deliver a K-12 academic program with rigor and support for admission to postsecondary education
  • Help students successfully transition to and succeed in college, on the career pathway they choose
  • Reduce or eliminate financial barriers so that every student can afford a quality, post-secondary education
  • Work together to deliver these commitments for the young people, families, and employers of Santa Cruz County

Student Participants have also made a commitment:

Student Pledge

  • I will learn about college and careers starting in fourth grade.
  • I will prepare for college and careers by behaving like a scholar and making the most of the extra help that I am provided.
  • I will take challenging high school courses, including the College Entrance / A-G Requirements, career technical education, internship opportunities, and service learning.
  • I will apply for financial aid during my senior year through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the California Student Aid Commission.
  • I will explore and pursue many different college and career opportunities, including those in the Santa Cruz County community.

The driving force behind S4C is a steering committee made up representatives from the members (School districts and institutions of higher learning). Each plays an integral role in setting the direction of S4C and in providing input and support in developing new opportunities to engage with every student county-wide, to prepare for college success.
