Explore Computer Building                      

Students will take apart and build back up a computer system from beginning to end, learning all major and necessary component names and the functions of these components.  Tasks include: Take all components apart to the smallest component, formatting a disk (erasing), load and configure the Operating System (OS), and get it user ready.  Get the hands-on experiences necessary to get a computer working again after disassembling it. There is an in-depth look at all components of a computer system along with necessary software to run it. This is a great opportunity for students to experience taking apart a computer and then putting it back to together to get it working properly again. The student will be able to finish the class with the pride and confidence of being able to build their own new computer. Students for this class should have an aptitude for discovery and inquiry and would like to have a hands-on and intellectual experience.

Graphics for T-shirts, Skateboards, Stickers and More

For students who enjoy drawing, painting or photography and want to create images to be placed on t-shirts, skateboards, hats, stickers, I phone cases & more. Learn how to use Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator to apply color effects, text, proper file formatting and more for Graphic Art techniques used to design many types of products in today's marketplace. Students can bring in sketches, photos or concept ideas to complete a variety of images that can be applied to products of their choosing. Students will set up their own online portfolio or storefront of their completed designs for various graphic art related products.

Digital Photography Part 1:  Creative Photographic Shooting with Natural & Studio Light

Learn the basics of shooting great photographs with digital cameras. Topics covered will include image composition, getting the correct exposure for shooting outdoors, as well as working with basic studio lighting & portable backdrops. Walks around campus will cover landscape photography, florals, architecture style images, portraits & more.  DSLR camera recommended, though cell-phone camera ok. Basic processing of photographs from camera to digital darkroom will also be covered.

    **Discount will be given if both classes are purchased together.  However, students can participate in either week individually.

Digital Photography Part 2:  Creative Photography: Processing in the Digital Darkroom -Editing your Photographs with Photoshop -

Learn the basics of processing your digital photography and advanced image editing with Adobe Photoshop to take your digital photographs to the next level. Students will learn; how to - color correct, process, edit, dodge/burn, make selections & cut-outs, as well as, enhanced layer blending modes, collage, apply special effects to enhance an image and more to create a mini portfolio of finished images.  Students will also learn where & how to print their photographs on canvas.

GeeDee is Me

If you love band t-shirts, posters, magazines, surf and skate graphics, then this camp is for you. Translate your creative and visual design ideas into actual computer art. Learn some of the most adaptable design principles and how to apply them to your own text, illustration, and photographic compositions.  This is a fun introduction for students interested in learning more about graphic design. Students will explore image-making, basic typography, and the integration of the two through a series of fun and fast-paced assignments and exercises. All projects will address form, composition, hierarchy, and creativity. Students will have the opportunity to use Wacom drawing tablets to see how real designers illustrate!"

Improvisational Dance and Moving Theater

This class is for dancers and non-dancers alike.  This course introduces the skill of creative movement and basic tools in dance/theatrical improvisation. We will explore inventive storytelling using creative body-movement with theatrical/playful use of language and pace.  We will be working in duets, trios, solo and larger group work.  There will be time given to witness each other in action.  Improvisational movement asks the mover to not know what they are going to do, rather than know- they explore their impulse to move and allow themselves to be surprised.  This is a great class to support your imagination, creative exploration and poetic soul.

Music Video Production – The Creative Process

Wanna make a music video?  How can we talent swap as a group to make music videos?   You can direct, operate a camera, do lighting, choreograph, dance, lip sync, add creative design elements or all of the above.  Learn how to take a song you love and create moving visual images to accompany the mood you feel from the song.  We will be using Mac computers with IMovie software and learning basic editing techniques.  Bring your own camera.   NO experience necessary.

SAT Preparation    

This SAT Prep Institute is a great way for students to prepare for the SAT Reasoning Test.  The weeklong institute covers all sections of the SAT test including,

            • All SAT study guide course materials
            • Extensive training sessions and practice tests for each section of the SAT exam
            • Essay scoring and notes from a professional editor
            • Specific strategies for each type of question on the SAT
            • General test-taking methods
            • Complete explanation of each question and answer on camp practice tests
            • System for analyzing errors to identify strengths and weaknesses
            • Comprehensive SAT vocabulary list as well as Greek and Latin word root lists
